What it is
A creation flow attached to a feed. Meta describes it as a way to “Easily make and share vibes—expressive AI-generated videos—with industry-leading media creation models”, and the entry point is a sentence: “Just describe what you want to create in a few words, or animate your own images.”
The output is not silent, and a clip with synced speech is exactly what spotting fake media has to contend with. Meta: “Complete your vibe with lip synced dialogue and music, or add voiceover and text to express yourself in new ways.”
Meta is also wiring newer models into it. The likeness claim
This is the line to hold onto: “Turn yourself and your friends into characters in your vibes, with complete control over when your likeness is used.”
Read it closely and it says two things at once. The invitation is to use other people’s faces — “your friends” — and the reassurance is about your likeness, not theirs. Those are different people.
This page has not tested any consent flow. Meta does not describe the mechanism on the page read here: no wording about how a friend grants or withdraws permission, and no statement of what happens to a clip already shared. The claim is quoted, not endorsed.
“Complete control over when your likeness is used” is a promise about the account holder. A product built around putting friends in videos raises the question for the person who is not holding the phone.
Why that matters more than it used to
Because likeness is now a legal question in several places, not just an etiquette one. What the law actually says, and where, is on voice and likeness law. The short version for a tool like this: the person whose face is in the clip is often the one with the claim, and the person who made it is often the one who has to answer for it.
Remixing is the default, not the exception
Meta frames reuse as the main activity: “Get inspired and remix your favorite vibes to try new ideas or put your own twist on them”, and “Create vibes starring you and your friends, and easily share them on your favorite apps.”
So a clip you post is expected to become someone else’s starting point. That is a different bargain from posting a video, and it is worth knowing before you put a real face in one.
